SDM isa new easytouse browserbased software tool designed for configuring LAN WAN and securityfeatures on a router. Cisco 831 836 and 837 routers manufactured after the date that SDM becameavailable will have both SDM and CRWS preinstalled. The CRWS image will be stored in web Flashmemory and the SDM image will be stored in Flash memory.Although both device managersCRWS and SDMcome preinstalled only one of these twoapplications can be active at a time. CRWS will be the active device manager by default but SDM canbe specified to be the active device manager when the router order is placed.This document describes how to switch between SDM and CRWS on Cisco 83x routers making theinactive application the active device manager on the router.NoteThe switchover procedures in this document will replace the current router configuration file with a newconfiguration file for the new device manager.
