Setting Up Your SAP Enterprise Portal System Landscape a portalapp.xml file provided upon installation of the portal. SAP EP 6.0 provides a visual portal administrator tool (System Administration System Configuration System) that lets you easily modify or copy system landscape files from within the portal, without the need to manually edit any XML code (see Figure 1). You can also save multiple system definition files, so that you can load different versions in your development, test, and production environments, for example. To add systems to this list, or remove them, you need to maintain the system definitions. The steps you need to take to make such changes depends on whether you are using SAP EP 5.0 or 6.0. The 5.0 system definitions are stored in two files: The systems.xml file describes the component systems the portal will connect to via its built-in connector. Generally, these component systems are SAP systems such as SAP R/3 and SAP BW, but this file is also use for defining mail systems such as Microsoft Exchange. The JCODestinations.xml file describes any systems accessed through a master iView 1 that uses the SAP Java Connector (in SAP EP 6.0, any JCo connections are configured automatically by the portal).
