IntroductionSerialMagic Professional will take serial data from a Bluetooth port, or the built-in RS232 serial port of a Windows Mobile device and enter it directly into virtually any Windows Mobile application that can accept Keypad input. This document describes how to use SerialMagic Professional on Windows Mobile. Installation and RegistrationInstall SerialMagic by running the SerialMagic setup application on the Windows desktop computer the Windows Mobile device is attached to, then follow the on-screen instructions.
Start SerialMagic on the Windows Mobile device and send the hardware ID to the provider of the software, they will in turn provide you with a registration code. Entered this code in the registration dialog on the device. If the registration code is not entered, every few scans will display UNLICENSED SerialMagic.
Main DialogThe first time SerialMagic is started use the Start >> Programs dialog. After this, the SerialMagic icon may be available directly from the Start menu (depending on what other program have been recently run). The SerialMagic main dialog should display as shown below left. From the Setup menu select Connection and then choose the Port: setting where the input device will be connected to the Windows Mobile device.
For Bluetooth devices, the Bluetooth port will be marked similar to what is shown in the above middle screen shot.When using The LaserChamp or Flic Bluetooth scanner, insure LaserChamp BT is checked. When using a Bluetooth device the port communication parameters can be ignored (The parameters other than Port:). Windows Mobile 2005 Note: WM2005 may show Virtual COM: Bluetooth for the port setting on the Connection Settings dialog.
When using a LaserChamp or Flic scanner insure that the Packet mode is selected under the Action Settings dialog, and that the Action Byte: is CR. SerialMagic TM Professional for Windows Mobile. Also use the same parameters for the Flic tethered scanners (and when using the Bluetooth LaserChamp LC2142 with the optional serial RS-232 cable). LaserChamp OffUse this setting to turn the LaserChamp scanner off after a certain period of time. Suspend HandheldUse this setting to turn the handheld off after a certain period of time.
