Long summary:

This guide gives instructions on how to dismantle or disassemble the Nokia N91 Music Phone. The purpose could be to replace the LCD screen, hard drive, bezels, keymat (keypad) or other component, or simply to give it a clean. I have no association with BlueUnplugged other than finding them a cheap and reliable resource for Genuine Nokia Mobile parts. There are many other sites selling parts so maybe try to shop around. The final page of this guide has a diagram taken from the official Nokia N91 Schematics Service Manual. This diagram shows an exploded view of all the removable components of the N91. The Nokia N91 is a valuable phone. It contains many fragile parts. The author of this guide will accept no liability if you f*ck up your phone. That said, if you accept the risks, lets begin: Tools required: T6 Torx Screwdriver. Small (2-3mm) flat head screwdriver (plastic would be safer than metal). 1) Remove the Battery Cover. Then remove the battery and any installed SIM card. Then using your Torx screwdriver, remove the four screws (coloured red in Fig.1). Fig.1 Remove the 4 screws. 2) Remove the Antenna/Camera Cover. To do so, insert your small screwdriver into the hole just to the top-right of the battery cover release button (red circle in Fig.2a). Gently lever it until the edge of the cover pops out. Then repeat this on the opposite side on the antenna/camera cover. Next lift and slide the antenna/camera cover upwards until it is removed (see Fig.2b) Fig.2a Remove the Antenna/Camera Cover (part 1). Fig.2b Remove the Antenna/Camera Cover (part 2). 3) Remove the remaining 2 screws (coloured red in Fig.3). Fig.3 Remove the 2 Screws. 4) Split the phone into two parts but do not try to force it. Once the screws are all removed the phone may come apart easy enough. If not, it is because of two retaining clips. To remove these you will need your small flathead screwdriver. Place the screwdriver against the clip and gently lever. Note: there is a clip either side of the phone (see Fig.4). Fig.4 Splitting the Phone in Half Retaining Clips. 5) Remove the Engine Module (motherboard/screen half of the phone) from the housing. This is where things can get a little fiddly. The LCD screen is held in place by a very small and thin ribbon cable and connector (see the red square in the right side image in Fig.5). Though the screen also rests in its own frame, there are no screws or clips holding it fixed. Take extra care here. Lay the housing with the LCD screen facing down and pull out the slide assembly (see the left image in Fig.5) ensuring it is on ...
