Power Asia Pacific Reports: Toyota Models Rank Highest in Four Segments in Taiwan Initial Quality SINGAPORE: 10 January 2007 Four Toyota models Camry Corolla Altis Previa and Vios rank highest in initial quality within their respective segments according to the J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2006 Taiwan Initial Quality StudySM (IQS) released today. Highestranking vehicles in other segments include Hyundai Tucson Mitsubishi Zinger Lexus ES and Nissan March. The study measures problems customers experience with their new vehicles during the first two to six months of ownership. The new IQS study redesigned in 2006 examines more than 200 problem symptoms covering eight vehicle components: exterior; driving experience; features controls and displays; audio entertainment and navigation; seats; HVAC; vehicle interior; and engine and transmission. Overall performance is determined by the problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100) with a lower score reflecting higher quality performance. Toyota dominates four segments: In the premium midsize car segment Camry leads with a score of 298 PP100. Corolla Altis ranks highest among six models in the competitive midsize car segment with a score of 321 PP100 while Vios leads in the entry midsize segment with 353 PP100 and Previa ranks highest in the MPV segment with 379 PP100. Lexus ES ranks highest in the luxury car segment with 133 PP100. Lexus ES also has the fewest reported problems of all models measured in the study. Nissan March leads the compact car segment (431 PP100) and in the SUV segment Hyundai Tucson and Mitsubishi Zinger tie to rank highest (382 PP100).The initial quality industry average score in Taiwan stands at 412 PP100.
