Most Surround SCM commands can be accessed from Microsoft ® Visual Basic 6 ®. Tip: The Surround SCM User Guide includes more detailed information about Surround SCM and its features. Installing the Visual Basic plug-in The Visual Basic plug-in is installed by default during the Surround SCM installation process. Note: Make sure you stop Visual Basic before you install the plug-in. 1 Run the Surround SCM installation program. 2 Select Make Surround SCM my default SCM provider when you are prompted to select Surround SCM integration options. 3 Finish the installation. You are now ready to begin using Visual Basic with Surround SCM. 4 Restart Visual Basic. 2 Adding projects to Surround SCM 5 Choose Add-Ins > Add-in Manager. The Add-In Manager opens. 6 Source Code Control should be displayed in the list of available add-ins. Make sure the Loaded/Unloaded and Load on Startup options are selected. 7 Click OK to close the Add-In Manager. Adding projects to Surround SCM You need to add projects to Surround SCM before you can access source control commands. 1 Open the Visual Basic project. 2 Choose Tools > Surround SCM > Add Project to Surround SCM. The Surround SCM Login dialog box opens. 3 Adding files to Surround SCM 3 Select a server, enter your username and password, and click Connect. The Surround SCM Repository Browser opens. 4 Select the Branch and Repository you want to point the project to. Click Create Repository to create a new repository for the project. 5 Click OK. Note: You may be prompted to set the working directory for the selected repository. Adding files to Surround SCM You can add files to Surround SCM through Visual Basic. 1 Select the file you want to add. 2 Choose Tools > Surround SCM > Add Files to Surround SCM. The Add Files to Surround SCM dialog box opens. 4 Getting the latest file version 3 Click Advanced to select additional add options. The Advanced Add Options dialog box opens. 4 Select any advanced options and click OK. Select Get files after add to create a read-only copy of the files in your working directory. Select Make files writable to get the files in read-write mode. Select Exclusive check out to prevent other users from checking out the files. Select Restore file if found removed to overwrite removed files. Select a File type. 5 Click OK to add the files. Getting the latest file version You can automatically get the latest revision of selected files. 1 Choose Tools > Surround SCM > Get Latest Version. The Get Files from Surround SCM dialog box opens. 5 Checking out files 2 Click Advanced to select additional get options. The Advanced Get Options dialog box opens. 3 Select any advanced options and click OK. Select Make files writable to get the files in read-write mode. Select Force file retrieval from the server to get the server copy of the files. ...
