The awards were presented during the opening media events at the Montreal International Auto Show last week."The 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid is a vehicle that could offer a realworld positive impact on climate change because of both its affordability and its great fuel consumption rating" said Christopher White vicepresident public affairs for CAA at the Toyota award presentation. Since its introduction as an earlyrelease 2007 vehicle over 2100 Canadians have bought the gasoline/electric Camry Hybrid which is about 10 per cent of all '07 Camry sales to date. It shows that there's a growing consumer confidence in this new technology. Kudos to Toyota for bringing advanced hybrid technology to a highvolume family vehicle. And for putting the Camry Hybrid on the market at a highly competitive price ($31900). If you take into consideration the purchasing incentives currently offered to those who buy a hybrid and the expected fuel savings over time the Camry Hybrid is also a financially sound buying decision. Last June BCAA did a comparison cost study of hybrid vehicles and similarly equipped gasoline engine vehicles. It included the purchase price financing costs insurance and fuel costs.
