Long summary:Board of Land Surveyors Policy on Continuing Education Policy 1Page 1Board of Land SurveyorsPolicy on Continuing EducationPolicy 1The Vermont Board of Land Surveyors as part of its duties as outlined in the Board of LandSurveyors Rules requires continuing education as outlined in Part 6 of the Rules (see Rules). TheRules encourage the development and delivery of survey oriented educational programs in an effortto stimulate opportunities for the professional growth of licensees.In reviewing and approving applications the Board shall take into consideration.A.Program Content: Courses must cover land surveying topics and must directlycontribute to accomplishment of the primary purpose of mandatory continuingeducation which is to help assure that surveying licensees possess the knowledgeskills and competence necessary to function in a manner that protects and serves thepublic interest. The knowledge or skills taught must enable licensees to better servesurveying clients and the subject matter must be directly related to the land surveyingpractice. All educational courses must be preapproved by the board.B.Instruction: Except as set forth below the course must be one that will be conductedby a qualified instructor who will be able to interact directly either in person or byinteractive television with all students at all times during the course. The course maybe conducted through he use of interactive television which permits continuousmutual communication between the instructor and all students continuousobservation of the instructor by all students and continuous observation of allstudents by the instructor. Video courses may be acceptable when the sponsor givesthe licensee a final exam and sends verification to the Board that the licensee hascompleted the course with a passing grade.
