Email: sales@powerbookmedic.com Tools Needed: Flat Head Screwdriver or flat nylon tool Torx T6 Screwdriver Ipod Take Apart The initial step in the Ipod disassembly is the most difficult. We highly recommend using a flat blade nylon tool for this step to avoid scratching your casing. Starting in the corner nearest the firewire port, pry up with your flat tool at the spot where the metal and white plastic meet. You may need to work your tool into the groove a bit and then pry up. The white plastic will then lift up slightly The case should open in a similar way to the picture on the left. Notice that the case has notches in the plastic. Use your flat tool to gently pry the casing up all along these notches to release the plastic casing from the metal pan. Tilt the plastic body up and out from the metal pan as shown. With the part flipped over, you will notice a thin shiny part. This is the battery, and it is adhered to the hard drive by two sticky strips, one on both ends of the battery. Use your flat tool to separate the battery from the sticky strip on both ends. Then, grasp the battery as shown and lift up. The battery is held on to the main board via a black and red cable.
